It was great to attend this annual conference, in person (!), after the last two events were cancelled due to Covid. There were a wide variety of speakers at the conference as well as giving local authorities and providers the chance to network and discuss the latest issues in caring for children who are looked after.
I enjoyed the presentation by SMASH LIFE. The company was started by two brothers who are care experienced. They both went into foster care and whilst they had a poor experience, they have used this experience to establish SMASH LIFE to help mentor young people in care and to work with organisations to help, inspire and ensure that young people today don’t have the same experience they did.
