Why Mosaic Foster Care Is Different - And Why It Matters

At Mosaic Foster Care, we believe fostering isn’t just about opening your home - it’s about creating stability, nurturing growth, and offering a safe space for children who have experienced trauma. But fostering can be complex, and that’s where our honest, personalised approach makes a real difference.

Why We Take An Honest Approach

We know fostering comes with its challenges. Children who come into care often carry the weight of their past experiences, and it’s vital to prepare foster parents for the realities of this role – without sugar coating what it’s really like. Mosaic’s honesty starts from the first conversation. We believe it’s better to set realistic expectations upfront, ensuring foster parents feel informed and ready and can fully understand the reason why the exceptional support we offer is so important.

How Our Approach Helps Foster Families And Children

  1. Building emotional resilience:
Our detailed assessments and training include exploring real-life scenarios, helping prospective foster parents build emotional resilience before they begin. This preparation reduces the risk of feeling overwhelmed and ensures foster families are equipped to navigate the challenges of fostering.
  1. Rapid therapeutic support:
Unlike many agencies where accessing therapy can take months, Mosaic’s in-house SMILE therapeutic framework provides tailored support often within hours. This rapid intervention sets Mosaic apart from other fostering agencies where you might typically wait weeks or even months to get support. Getting help early on prevents small challenges from escalating, ensuring the stability of the child’s placement.
  1. Focusing on stability:
Mosaic specialises in long-term fostering placements. We don’t do short-term or emergency placements because we believe every child deserves consistent care that promotes healing and growth. Our rigorous matching process ensures the right fit for both the child and the foster family, significantly reducing the likelihood of placement breakdowns.
  1. Whole-family support:
Fostering affects everyone in the household, including birth children. That’s why our support extends to the entire family, offering counselling, advice, and resources to nurture a harmonious home environment.
  1. Personalised training:
Mosaic goes beyond standard training, integrating therapeutic parenting techniques from the outset. This tailored approach ensures foster parents feel confident and competent, no matter issues they may face.

The Impact Of Our Approach

With Mosaic, foster families benefit from one of the highest placement stability rates in the UK, with the majority of foster children remaining in their placements through to adulthood thanks to the proactive support and robust preparation we provide.
