Taking the first step into fostering

We know that it can be daunting taking that first step into enquiring about fostering. Typically people have been thinking about it for many years and then something triggers that thought and brings it forward.. the time becomes the right time for you…. perhaps children leaving for university or a relevant news story… or you just simply know you want to make a difference to a young person’s life.

We understand that it can take lot to pick up that phone or send that message. It could be the fear of perceived commitment from that first contact, but we don’t work like that. At Mosaic Foster Care, we do all we can to put your mind at rest and make your enquiry into fostering a pleasant and interesting one. It’s all about us helping you make an informed decision.

In that initial conversation, we simply have a chat to make sure you meet our basic criteria such as having a spare bedroom, no children under the age of 12 at home, a good command of the English language, a car and a good support network along with an open mind and heart for a young person. You will learn a lot about fostering and what it could mean for you. It’s a real learning curve! Some people have experience of fostering and a relatively in depth knowledge of what it entails; others are starting their journey from scratch.

This conversation is also for you to ask as many questions as you like. We suggest you write them down in advance so that you don’t forget anything. We’ve heard most of them before and there is no such thing as a stupid question. If you need something answered, then please ask! We’re a friendly team and will put you at ease.

We look forward to hearing from you and can be contacted as below:
