I started my foster care career in 1999, working with children who are looked after in residential care. I joined Mosaic in 2012. My sister-in-law fosters so I also have experience of providing some respite care.
Thinking together with foster carers and mixing together different perspectives to make sense of experiences and behaviours. When I am seeing children directly, then my favourite part of the job is the magic of our Play Therapy room. In relation to the panel, seeing a potential carer successfully parenting a year on is really special.
The stability of young people staying with their family. I have worked with families who have been stable for over a decade! Also, I have seen successful moves between families and I think Mosaic always tries to think creatively about how best to support a family.
My most memorable moments are the magical periods in conversation and interactions with children and young people in the Play Therapy room.
