Children in Care legislation (COVID 19).

Labour leader Sir Kier Starmer has called for the Adoption and Children (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 to be cancelled. The changes brought about in this emergency legislation impact on children cared for by Mosaic Foster Care. Part of the legislation relates to the way in which we recruit foster carers. This allowed for changes to be made to some of the checks we undertake, including medicals, as well as arrangements for fostering panels.

I asked Greg De Smidt, our registered manager, for his views on the changes. Greg said, "we recently discussed this at the National Association of Fostering Providers (NAFP)". Whilst there were different views about whether the changes would be helpful for providers, carers and young people, the overriding feeling was that the safety and welfare of children and young people should not be compromised.

Here at Mosaic Foster Carer we have made the decision that all recruitment stages should be completed as they were before COVID 19. This is the only way we can ensure that foster carers, children and young people are protected. Our recruitment process is designed to be time efficient and we often have carers approved within 5 months of enquiry. So if your interested in fostering, why not work with us, let's change children's lives for the better...

Mosaic Foster Care is a Private Ltd Company (reg no 07133494) providing fostering placements for children and young people to age 18.
